Our mid-sized organization is looking to hire a Quality Control/Compliance/Regulatory Specialist to support our Operations Team. As a QC/ Compliance/Regulatory Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of textured hair care beauty products manufactured by our company. Your responsibilities will span across quality control, regulatory compliance, and adherence to industry standards. Although we outsource production to co-manufacturers, your expertise will be essential in maintaining product excellence. Responsibilities:
 1. Quality Control (QC):
- Conduct thorough inspections of finished and semi-finished products to verify compliance with established quality standards.
- Collaborate with co-packagers to ensure consistent product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Monitor and analyze product samples, identifying any deviations from specifications.
- Implement corrective actions when quality issues arise, working closely with production teams.
 2. Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay up to date with relevant regulations, guidelines, and industry standards related to hair care beauty products.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive regulatory documents to external parties (e.g., FDA, other regulatory bodies) in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, including labeling requirements, ingredient restrictions, and safety protocols.
- Validate the compliance of product labels, ingredient lists, and claims.
 3. Product Safety and Testing:
- Coordinate product testing (such as stability testing, microbial testing, and safety assessments) to ensure safety and efficacy.
- Collaborate with co-packagers to verify that raw materials meet quality and safety standards.
- Address any safety concerns promptly and work toward continuous improvement.
 4. Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of quality control processes, regulatory submissions, and compliance activities.
- Record keeper of safety data sheets (SDS)
- Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to quality control and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in audits and inspections by regulatory agencies.
 5. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, marketing, and legal, to align quality and compliance goals.
- Communicate effectively with co-packagers, ensuring they understand and adhere to our quality and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Regulatory Affairs).
- 5-year experience in quality control, regulatory affairs, or compliance within the cosmetics or personal care industry.
- Strong knowledge of hair care regulations (FDA, EU, etc.) and labeling requirements.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in problem-solving
- Expertise in Excel and other Microsoft Office apps
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Location: Our Chicago office (in-person position).
