Aris Singleton is the CEO of Thank God It’s Natural (tgin), one of the leading textured hair care brands sold in Target, Walmart, Ulta Beauty, Sally Beauty, Whole Foods, CVS, other national and international retailers and online. In her role, she oversees all aspects of day-to-day operations, sales, and strategic partnerships.
Aris has worked with tgin in some capacity since its inception in July 2009. Aris returned to tgin in May 2017 upon completion of her BA in Finance from Texas Southern University. She also worked closely with the late tgin Founder, Chris-Tia Donaldson, and shadowed her in day-to-day business operations. That preparation excelled Aris to be a forerunner in a competitive industry, taking tgin from a small business to a multi-million-dollar global brand in the textured hair care market.
She has been featured in industry-leading publications, recently joined the Young Presidents Organization, Chicago chapter—the world’s largest leadership community of chief executives, collaborated with other women entrepreneurs and most recently was spotlighted in the Ebony x Walmart SHE-E-O series. Aris also uses her influence to champion women-led businesses in the beauty community.
Through the tgin Foundation, Aris continues to push Chris-Tia’s mission and values, advocating for women undergoing breast cancer treatment who are experiencing financial difficulties and highlighting the impact of health disparities on survivor outcomes.
Dr. Piper A. Farrell assumed a leadership role at Thank God It’s Natural (tgin) as COO in October 2021. An educator, leader and researcher by training, Dr. Farrell stepped into her role after the transition of her sister, Chris-Tia E. Donaldson, who founded tgin in 2009. tgin is one of the leading textured hair care brands sold in 10,000 stores, including Ulta Beauty, Target, Sally Beauty, Whole Foods, CVS, other national retailers and online.
The organization’s mission is to redefine beauty by cultivating a community that empowers women to be the best version of themselves. The common thread in Dr. Farrell’s work across academia, government and healthcare, has been her focus on empowering women to find their purpose through coaching, mentoring and access to social and community resources so they can achieve their life goals.
(Chris-Tia Donaldson)
Chris-Tia Donaldson, is the Founder of Thank God It’s Natural (tgin), a manufacturer of hair care and skin care products. These products are currently available in various retail stores including Walmart, Target, Ulta Beauty, Whole Foods, Sally Beauty and Walgreens.
Donaldson had been featured in major media publications such as USA Today, Marie Claire, Essence, Black Enterprise, Ebony, Heart & Soul, and the Chicago Tribune. Her book Thank God I’m Natural: The Ultimate Guide to Caring for Natural Hair is a #1 Amazon bestseller, and was hailed the “Natural Hair Bible” by Essence Magazine.
Prior to starting tgin, Chris-Tia represented Fortune 500 companies in complex business transactions involving technology and open source code. She earned her A.B. in Economics from Harvard University with high honors, and is a graduate of Harvard Law School.
In 2015, Chris-Tia was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her treatment, she learned that having money could make the difference between living and dying when it came to treating this condition. In her observation, few organizations existed that provided support and social services to help women with transportation, child care, parking, or seeking disability leave from their place of employment.
Up until her passing in November 2021, she used her success in the beauty space to advocate for women experiencing financial difficulties, who are undergoing treatment, to highlight health disparities due to race and socio-economic factors, and to empower women to listen to their bodies through the tgin Foundation.
